Greetings! We are the Community Service Committee.  Our mission is to inspire, develop and deepen ICS students’ commitment to building better local and global communities through service to others, and to strengthen the ICS community through engaging, family oriented service projects. We will organize volunteer service projects that enable ICS students to work alongside (and under the supervision of) their parents, together with their friends, for the benefit of our Brooklyn neighbors.  Community Service projects will enable ICS students to work hard, see tangible results and feel pride about their contributions to improving their communities.  Our committee will also help connect families to service opportunities in our neighborhoods that they can do on their own.

This year, a few of the events that we are planning include: a card making workstation and toy collection at the Winter Fair for the benefit of pediatric patients and their siblings being cared for at Mt Sinai Hospital; a service day on Martin Luther King Jr. Day; and a Food Drive with City Harvest that benefits the children of NYC  in June. Currently, we have more ideas than we have parents who can execute.  So, if you are interested in helping us build compassionate citizens by developing these and other events, please email me at
